From the Cheap Seats: Paycheck Fairness Hypocrisy

May 31, 2012

DO AS WE SAY, NOT AS WE DO: Senators Feinstein and Murray complain about salary discrimination - but pay their own female staffers significantly less than their male counterparts

You gotta scratch your head when you see feminists treating their female proteges to the same kind discrmination they purport to be fighting against.  Ironic, yes, that’s the word.

And it seems as though the United States Senate is ground zero for just that kind of gender hypocrisy these days.

Yes it seems that a few of the Senators stumping for the “Paycheck Fairness Act” – supposedly intended to assure that men and women who do the same work get the same pay – don’t exactly live up to the lofty standards they want to impose.

Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash), pays the men on her staff 35 percent more than the women who toil on her behalf writing press releases and position papers about the Republican “War on Women.”

Sen. Diane Feinstein, (D-Oh so Enlightened California) makes Murray look like Mother Theresa. Feinstein pays her men 41 percent more than her women.

This is pretty much the same crowd that used to snark that at least the war on the environment was going well. Now it seems that their war on women staffers is going extremely well.

It’s the kind of thing that makes one long for the much-missed days of integrity and honesty among Democrats in the Senate, upstanding members who support equal rights.  We refer, of course, to John Edwards (D-Misogyny) who the Democrats foisted on the nation as a presidential hopeful and an actual nominee for VP.

That’s a guy who knows how treat the ladies, John Edwards.

All this leaves The Cheap Seat with a question: So where does Colorado’s own Rep. Diana DeGette stand on the paycheck fairness business and does she back it up with her payroll?

Or is Ms. DeGette also balancing her office budget on the backs of her female staffers?
