From the Cheap Seats: Chuck Todd, Imbecile

RACE BAITING: Liberal commentator and fearmonger Chuck Todd said a “very smart White House aide” told him there would still be slavery if it was up to todays GOP

If there was any doubt that the Obama administration represents the rise of the ignoramus, then Chuck Todd of NBC has unwittingly unveiled the ugly, half-witted truth. And of course protected the identity of the of the guilty.

Todd, who parades as a detached “political analyst,” shared a comparison of President Barack Obama with President Abraham Lincoln.

Leaving aside the fact that comparing Obama to Lincoln is like comparing a Yugo to a Rolls Royce and thus certain to provoke a questionable reponse, Todd proceeded:

“You’re going to like this,” Todd said on MSNBC on Tuesday. “So, I threw the Lincoln analogy at a close aide to the president last week, and he said, ‘You know, with this Republican, with the way politics of Washington are today, there’d still be slavery. Lincoln wouldn’t have been able to navigate the polarization between the media between this–’ It was an interesting and depressing observation from this very smart White House aide.”

Oh where, oh where to begin?

Let’s just start with “smart.”

Cheap Seats can’t presume to dispute the description of “smart” in this case. It might be that the aide can indeed read. It’s quite clear, however, that the aide hasn’t actually indulged in the activity.

Let’s be clear, the political party that favored slavery and was willing to kill hundreds of thousands of fellow Americans to continue its “peculiar institution” was the Democrat Party. It was the Republican Party whose founding is inextricably tied to the abolition of slavery and it was led by Lincoln.

Now it’s entirely possible that the “smart” White House aide is indulging in a bit of political ju-jitsu, linking slavery with Republicans and Democrats with the preservation of the Union, but that would make Todd the ignoramus – and that couldn’t be the case for a political expert, could it?

Could it?
